One Year with the Pentax Q7

It's been a good one year my friend :)

PROS:
1. Tiny, hence doesn't draw much attentions, especially handy for documentary street photography.
2. The novelty of owning one of the smallest interchangeable lens systems in the world. Lenses include the Standard Prime Lens, Standard Zoom, the Fish-Eye, Telephoto Zoom and the Wide Zoom.
3. Looks: metal plus rubber body gives the camera a vintage feel.
4. All features available in any standard DSLR + more! Which means tethering it, syncing it with external flash, among others.
5. This thing shoots videos at 1920x1080 - full HD.
6. If you get the pancake lens, you can literally fit it in your pocket. The Prime lens isn't any bigger either.
7. Cool in-built filters, which are live while shooting video too.
8. Extremely Lightweight.

CONS:
1. Mirrorless sensor means the camera needs to fire off an infra red while using auto-focus. This can be unnerving for the subjects or in situations where it might seem like a blinding distraction.
2. Although, a photograph is only as good as the photographer, in some instances, one cannot get away using this line; say for example while shooting something commercial, you might get clients who may seem unimpressed because they're so used to seeing the bulky and extremely popular Canon 5D Mark III. However, I do believe, it totally depends on your selling and convincing skills too. I personally have shot numerous assignments on this camera for HousingIndia; AND got published in a book with photos taken from this very camera.
3. No viewfinder: right now, the only way you can compose your image is on the LCD screen, which while outdoors in sunny conditions, may not be very useful. While there is an option to 'upgrade' your pentax by buying the official eyepiece, the price of the eyepiece is more than the camera itself.

Check out the Pentax Q7 if you want to own one too! It is a worthy investment for sure...and while you're at it, and if you happen to know Japanese, pick up a few of these books too, to help you become thorough with the camera.
