I am currently assisting Documentary Filmmaker Aparna Sanyal and as part of my job, had to visit the Kathputli Colony as she plans to shoot an abstract sequence involving the use of puppets. The Kathputli Colony was named so because it is a shanty neighbourhood comprising traditional puppet makers. These are people who have been puppeteers for generations, where the knowledge is passed from the elders to the progenies.
