Kids

I like taking portraits where the subject is staring right into the lens, revealing and laying bare their lives for you to peek into. And sometimes in the hundreds of portraits I take, I always come across someone whose life is a reflection or a memory of my own life. When they look into my lens, they penetrate much deeper, sometimes shaking the innermost chords of my being. There is a sense of universal deeper human connection one feels at that moment. These eyes sometimes tell you tales of the sandwich just consumed to the last fight he had with his girlfriend or boyfriend.
Kids are the most daring. They don’t have any garbs to hide behind. They let you wonder in their worlds telling you tales of mischief and carefree abandonment. When you request adults to pose for you, the first pose they give is usually a smile. But kids, some are shy, while others are beaming and excited. Some who come and poke the camera lens. They want to see what is behind that, they are not afraid to want to check things out. When people look at my pictures I want them to be able to hear those stories. It’s true what they say; your eyes are the window to your soul.
